Hmmm, this could be interesting: shy dissidence among orthodoxy. In th World Conference on HIV/AIDS being held in Mexico, there was a debate over the Swiss Declaration, presented by Pietro Vernazza, Bernard Hirschel, Enos Bernasconi and Dr. Markus Flepp. For those who do not know what is this declaration it is basically the confirmiation of Padian's results, as long one keeps doing ARVs;). Needless to say these fellows were soon under attack by the same old and dusty accusations of supporting the disuse of condoms and temping the flock of positive patients away from the righteous path of ARV-induced salvation. From what I've read at http://sidadania.blogspot.com/ (portuguese...sorry), these 4 researchers managed to fend of every counterargument to their declaration. Anyone knows what else is going on there?
Are these the first effects of funding cuts by sponsors that are finally and slowly acknowledging that this is not the way to go and are not willing to spend one more cent on people that had 25 years to sort this thing out? Did they finally understood that if they don't change the defunct paradigm, people will want to change, eventually? "For how long can we further push people's hope and profit from it?" is what they must be asking themselves.
We will see.

I had to yawn when I read, "AIDS is mostly about sensitive issues—sex, gender inequality, sex work, homosexuality, drug use, stigma and discrimination—all have proved to be enormous barriers to government and civil society…." All that amateur cultural analysis about what the supposedly "bigoted and prejudiced" people of this world can't deal with.

AIDS "is" all this stuff, and the denial of it. Nobody even mentioned a virus. We keep funding AIDS to shadow-box with our own prejudices. If AIDS is about "fighting" it all, why haven't all these billions of dollars at least cured racism, homophobia and "sensitive issues"?

Allow me this modest proposal, most certainly acceptable to the natives: Why don't we just drop all these billions of dollars on the "affected populations" from helicopters and let them sort it out? If they want to buy AZT, they will. If they think food is more important, they'll buy some seeds and grow some.

Oh, you call it "horse sense"? We call it "horse sh*t" where I come from.

But to answer your question, yes it does, and aren't they full of it.
