I am Albert Einstein, and I heartily approve of this blog, insofar as it seems to believe both in science and the importance of intellectual imagination, uncompromised by out of date emotions such as the impulse toward conventional religious beliefs, national aggression as a part of patriotism, and so on. As I once remarked, the further the spiritual evolution of mankind advances, the more certain it seems to me that the path to genuine religiosity does not lie through the fear of life, and the fear of death, and blind faith, but through striving after rational knowledge. Certainly the application of the impulse toward blind faith in science whereby authority is treated as some kind of church is to be deplored. As I have also said, the only thing that ever interfered with my learning was my education. I am Freeman Dyson, and I approve of this blog, but would warn the author that life as a heretic is a hard one, since the ignorant and the half informed, let alone those who should know better, will automatically trash their betters who try to enlighten them with independent thinking, as I have found to my sorrow in commenting on "global warming" and its cures.

Bitter about Obama

Satirist Girodian tries to advance discussion with humor, but tends to overkill

Paradigm now so thoroughly deconstructed that laughter is best medicine in HIV∫AIDS, but it is difficult

Over at YBYL, Lee Evans adds milder plea

Marcel Girodian is a mysterious figure who some years ago took up writing little satirical news items which he emailed around to amuse Peter Duesberg and other stars of the galaxy of people who, with unending justifications produced by reviewing the mainstream scientific literature, deny the sense and the validity of the global HIV∫AIDS paradigm, as promulgated, promoted and pontificated by Anthony Fauci, Robert Gallo, John P.Moore and other suns of illumination in the science of AIDS, who thereby label them “denialist” as if they were Holocaust denialists instead of supporters of good science supported by the literature.

Time to laugh and move on

That’s another story, of course, so interminably elucidated in the posts here over the last two years, which are now so innumerable in favor of a Congressional committee investigation into this expensive and frankly murderous gallop down a cul de sac of science that we are now inclined to expand the coverage of this modest little corner of enlightenment in the vast Web universe on other topics, such as global warming, the origin of the universe and other more interesting and challenging topics, where there are more complicated pros and cons.

For the dispute about the validity of HIV as the cause of AIDS is now so one sided in terms of reason and accumulating evidence that not much more can be said, except to point out that John P. Moore is one of the great truthtellers and critics of the HIV∫AIDS paradigm, contrary to his public reputation as the chief scientific goon perpetrating social and intellectual violence on behalf of the conventional wisdom on which his macaque research depends. We will demonstrate this point – that Moore is in fact a heroic closet AIDS dissident – in one of our next posts.

With the HIV∫AIDS theory now as dead in the minds of readers who have paid attention as the parrot in the famous Monty Python sketch, it is time in fact to laugh at the Ministry of Silly Walks (NIAID) scientific rationalizations which are used as crumbling pillars of support for the aging paradigm platform which is creaking and swaying beneath the feet of Fauci et al as they try to maintain the flow of public and drug company funds into this unproductive and rather fetid scientific backwater. (Anyone interested in supporting this inflow should join the May 20 AIDS Walkathon in Central Park, New York City.)

Marcel strikes again

That’s where Marcel Girodian comes in. We need to turn from crying about this outrage to reason and independent thought to laughing at the human tragi-comedy of it all. We need in fact, a satirist, and Girodian is the man. We were reading one of the best of his earlier efforts the other day, “Gallo Discovers A New Virus” (click Show)

FAMED AIDS SCIENTIST DISCOVERS NEW VIRUS

By Gina Kolada
The New York Times

Washington D.C. (December 4)–Dr. Robert Gallo,
discoverer of the AIDS virus, stunned the scientific
community today with the discovery of a new virus that
is possibly even more deadly than HIV.

Speaking at an internationally televised press
conference in the Georgetown Hilton, Gallo announced
that he had discovered the virus responsible for the
biggest scourge of mankind–malnutrition.

“It’s simply not true that malnutrition is caused by
not having enough food to eat,” the famed virologist
said. “Our ground-breaking discovery proves that it is
caused by a sexually-transmitted virus.”

Gallo, who has often been described as a genius, gave
the assembled press corps a glimpse of his thinking:
“I knew that malnutrition couldn’t be caused by lack
of food,” he said. “Everybody knows that globalization
has raised living standards for all the world’s
people, with agencies like the World Bank and IMF
making sure that people in places like Indonesia and
Sri Lanka make very affluent livings making sneakers
and t-shirts for Wal-Mart and K-Mart.”

“So it had to be a virus. Sure enough, we found a new
retrovirus in the blood and semen of sexually active
malnourished people from third world countries. Our
experiments prove that in infected people, the virus
eats the food before the person can utilize it. Those
bloated stomachs children in Africa get are not due to
lack of food–it’s the virus getting fatter and fatter
while the person starves.”

He added, “This is one of the great breakthroughs in
the history of biology, comparable to Pasteur’s germ
theory and the theory of evolution.”

Asked how the millions of malnourished children in the
world could have contracted a sexually transmitted
malnutrition virus, Gallo said, “Simple. These childen
have been sexually abused. Their parents should all be
arrested.”

Gallo said that his discovery means it is pointless
for governments and the UN to spend billions of
dollars on food aid for the poor. “All they’re doing
is feeding the virus,” he said. He called for all such
moneys to be diverted instead to the research
community, in order to develop treatments for the
virus. “With proper funding, we can develop a vaccine
for this virus within two years,” he said confidently.
“We must immediately make no less than 170 billion
dollars available to retrovirus specialists. Not to do
so would constitute an act of terrorism against all
people with malnutrition.”

The American Association of Scientific Researchers
hailed Gallo’s discovery. “It’s the disgrace of the
century that this great man has not been awarded a
Nobel Prize,” said Seth Gummowitz, the association’s
president.

The Business Roundtable, US Chamber of Commerce, World
Bank, and Association of Sweatshop Manufacturers all
lavished praise on Gallo. “This shows that the good
people who operate the international garment industry
are not to blame for people’s hunger,” said Selfishio
Grabowski, head of the Sweatshop group.

The Agribusiness Entrepreneurs Association, which has
endured years of criticism for paying sub-minimum
wages to migrant farm workers, also praised Gallo.
“Everybody has plenty of money for food,” said
Gadabout Pincharama, the association’s secretary.
“It’s too bad that some people have the Malnutrition
Virus, but that’s not our fault.”

US Labor Secretary Wolf Bumby seconded the opinion and
called for a cut in the minimum wage. “These so-called
lower income workers have been feeding off the
government long enough,” he said to reporters aboard
his government jet as he flew to the South of France
to attend a labor conference. “They can get by with
just one Cadillac instead of two. Gallo’s brilliant
discovery should be used to re-think all areas of
government policy.”

The Pharmaeutical Manufacturers’ Association
immediately announced that it would start work on
drugs and a vaccine to fight the malnutrition virus,
as soon as research funds were made available by the
taxpayers.

Apparently awed by Gallo’s discovery, Senator Hugh
Drango of Texas, chairman of the Senate Agriculture
Committee, proposed legislation that would empower the
National Parks Service to build a giant statue of Dr.
Gallo in a prominent place in the capital area. Drango
suggested that the statue should be Eiffel Tower-sized
and should bestride the Beltway at the exit that leads
to the congressional office buildings. “Everyone in
government should draw inspiration from the example of
Bob Gallo,” he said. “He is what this town is all
about.”

Senator Obama Accused of Terrorism

By Marcel Girodian (see Special Note below)
The Joliet (Illinois) Tribune

Kisumu, Kenya. May 2. He’s a rising star of the Democratic party, a front-runner for the 2008 presidential nomination. Could the distinguished Senator Obama Bin Led-on also be a terrorist?

That’s what Imamu Mbulu has been saying for months. Mbulu, the director of Aids Alternatives Kenya, says that Bin Led-on has been actively terrorizing the people of his country.

“On August 26, 2006, Obama Bin Led-on steered two jets loaded with HIV tests into a fateful encounter with the people of Kenya,” said Mbulu. “The twin towers of Kenya’s greatness — her people’s optimism and solidarity — were attacked in broad daylight.”

“The impact of that event was so great, today we refer to that day as ‘8/26.’

“Here’s how Bin Led-on did it. He and his wife came here and got tested for HIV in front of the TV cameras. ‘Get tested, get tested,’ he shouted to everybody. ‘If a US senator can get tested and his wife can get tested, then everybody in this crowd can get tested! Everybody in this city can get tested!'”

“People were so impressed with Bin Led-on’s stunt, they threw caution to the wind and got tested themselves.”

Twenty-four year old seamstress Bahati Odaba tells what happened next. “I wasn’t so fortunate as Bin Led-on,” she said. “My test came up positive. When I went to my husband to be consoled, he wouldn’t touch me. He got his things and moved out of the house that night.”

“Now none of my friends will come near me, and our children are pariahs at school.”

Chiumbo Zuraaba, too, was impressed by Bin Led-on’s charisma, and got tested. After the brawny construction worker tested positive, he took the medicine that the government gave him for free, thanks to the efforts of the Clinton and Bill Gates Foundations. Within days, he got very sick, within weeks, his muscles had wasted away, and within seven months he was dead from kidney failure. “They said he must have had a very powerful strain of the virus in him,” said his son Nthanda. “But I think it was the medicine that killed him.”

Bujune Obasanjo is now what they call an “AIDS orphan.” “My mom got tested after she listened to Obama Bin Led-on,” he said. “After she tested positive, she was cryin’ all the time. She couldn’t eat, she couldn’t sleep. The authorities wouldn’t let her breast feed Samanya, my baby sister, and Samanya just got weaker and weaker on that formula they forced her to drink. Mom left a message for our grandmother to take care of us. We found her in the outhouse that night. She cut her wrists with a rusty old lid from a tin can.”

Impact of the tests

Abubakar Malaho, a single man who works as a carpenter, was also persuaded by Obama Bin Led-on to take the test. After he tested positive, his girlfriend flew the coop. He tried dating others but, knowing that he was legally required to inform people of his HIV status before having sex with them, or be charged with attempted murder, he found that nobody would sleep with him, even with a condom. He’s lost all hope of ever finding a partner. “Obama didn’t tell me that would happen,” he grumbled.

Dayo Hatingo and her husband Simba both tested positive after listening to Bin Led-on. The next day, they walked to the river and drowned their children, then themselves. They didn’t want to face the hell that their lives would surely become, being HIV+ lepers.

There are hundreds of stories like these in Kisumu, where Bin Led-on gave his demonstration.

“Most of the stories are the same,” says Mbulu. “People listened to Bin Led-on, and got tested, and when they tested positive, they collapsed into a heap of rubble on the floor, their psyches pulversized into dust, overwhelmed with depression. Nobody can survive those tests, because they take away a person’s hope for the future. They cause staggering levels of depression and stress, which are proven in the medical journals to depress the immune system. They shatter people’s lives and turn people into untouchables who just want to die and end their ordeal. It’s the test that’s deadly, not the virus.”

“Bin Led-on is assisting in what I think is a controlled demolition of the African population masquerading as ‘humanitarianism’,” Mbulu said.

He continued, “The ones strong enough to survive the initial impact of the test result later committed suicide, or died from the deadly chemotherapy drugs that Bin Led-on says are ‘life-saving.’ Mostly the drugs destroyed their livers, others died when the drugs gave them heart attacks, nerve damage, uncontrollable diarrhea, or caused their skin to come off in sheets. Meanwhile, no controlled scientific study has ever been done that has shown these drugs to prolong life when compared to a group that didn’t take them. Obama been Led-on’ about that, too.”

Mbulu was visibly trying to control his anger. “Obama also failed to mention that none of these tests detect HIV, they only detect antibodies thought to be associated with HIV. But the scientific literature demonstrates that these antibodies can be produced by any of over 70 conditions, including the common cold, pregnancy or past pregnancy, TB, many common tropical infections, and even vaccinations. Any of these common conditions might result in a ‘false positive,’ and almost all Africans have one or more of these conditions. The fact is that every HIV test comes with a disclaimer in fine print that says that the test doesn’t detect HIV and should not be used to diagnose HIV. Yet Bin Led-on never disclosed any of this information to the poor folks he urged to get tested! Just like Jim Jones, he said ‘Listen to me, I’m your leader. Drink the Kool-Aid, drink the Kool-Aid’!”

In addition, Bin Led-on didn’t tell people that the testing protocols used to stigmatize people as HIV+ outcasts in the Third World are not approved to diagnose HIV in Bin Led-on’s native US, according to Mbulu. Because of this double standard, many people who test positive in Africa and Asia would not be considered positive in the US, or in Australia or France. “This is outrageous,” Mbulu said. “It’s obvious that HIV positivity is politically, not medically, defined. And Bin Led-on never would have taken that test for the TV cameras if he didn’t already know that he tests negative. No politician would take a chance like that. He knew, yet he acts like it was a big surprise, ‘Oh, I’m so happy now, I know my status!’ How dumb does he think we are?”

“This man comes here, posing as a brother, saying he’s gonna save us from the deadly virus, and in reality he’s just working for the global elitists who want to slowly kill us with chemo so the drug industry investors can profit and the elitists’ goal of population reduction can be achieved.”

“Bin Led-on also didn’t tell us that there are thousands of scientists thousands of scientists who say that HIV doesn’t cause AIDS and that the reason we are told otherwise is because medical science and the media are corrupt and in bed with politicians and the drug industry. They need to constantly have a new ‘crisis’ so they can justify giving away the taxpayers’ money to politically connected drug companies and researchers who say they can ‘fight’ the crisis. And the newspapers always need a lurid new story so they can sell their toilet paper sheets, even have drug industry tycoons on their boards of directors like the New York Times does, so they treat every dubious claim of a new crisis as if it were real, report self-serving scientific theories from corrupt researchers as if they were proven facts, and fan the flames of hysteria to boost their circulation and keep their drug industry advertisers and directors happy.”

“This man Bin Led-on says he’s one of us, but his actions indicate otherwise. On November 22, 2005, he gave a speech to the Council on Foreign Relations, the Global Elitist group run by the Rockefellers, a family that is not only intimately connected to the drug industry, but practically invented allopathic, so-called ‘scientific’ medicine in the early years of the 20th century by bribing medical schools so they would abandon all research into non-toxic remedies found in nature and focus instead on developing petrochemical-based toxic pills that could be patented for huge profits. Bin Led-on even remarked that he was ‘privileged’ to address the notorious Council.

“It’s too bad that people are conned by these opportunist black people whose color cloaks the reality that they secretly serve the white corporate elite,” said Mbulu. “Bin Led-on, Rice, Winfrey, Powell, Jackson, Thomas, are all just front men for the globalist power brokers. They serve as the “humane, caring” black faces for the public to see on TV, obscuring the callous rich white men behind the curtain. People think that because these sycophants are black, or women, or black women, that the policies they advocate must be ‘liberal’ and ‘compassionate.’ That’s just what their Machiavellian elitist puppetmasters want you to think!”

“If Bin Led-on cares about black folks so much, why was his first act as a US Senator, to refuse to support the Congressional Black Caucus in their challenge to Ohio’s nullification of hundreds of thousands of black voters’ ballots, an outrageous theft that helped Bush steal the election? Then Bin Led-on voted for Bush’s far right wing Supreme Court nominee, voted for a bill that makes it essentially impossible for the little people to sue huge corporations that have harmed or defrauded them, and voted to renew the Patriot Act that takes away Americans’ constitutional rights and turns the country into a virtual police state, gives the government almost unlimited powers to spy on Americans, gives the president imperial powers to arrest Americans without any evidence and hold them without trial, even strip them of their citizenship, all on the president’s say-so, with no proof and no constitutional process. Do black people really want to swallow Bin Led-on’s Kool-Aid?”

Kenyan investigators are trying to locate Obama Bin Led-on in order to hold him accountable for the many deaths caused by the events of 8/26. He is thought to be hiding in “the Cave,” a luxuriously appointed underground biosphere near Washington DC that the US government has built as a retreat for the power elite in the event of nuclear war that kills all the common people.

But tapes have surfaced that purport to show Obama Bin Led-on addressing his followers in various cities across the US. Investigators are not sure whether this is the same Bin Led-on, or a double.

Wherever Obama Bin Led-on may be, his Al-Misleadya terrorist organization still functions. One of its New York cells, run by the noted Aids terrorist Dr. John Peemore, is reportedly planning more hijacings of common sense and the scientific method, and consequently more deaths and misery from Hiv/Aids terrorism. Informers in the Al-Misleadya organization report that more planeloads full of HIV tests and Aids drugs are being readied for the next attacks which will be targeted at more than 10 South and Central African nations heretofore largely spared by the Aids establishment.

Informed of Mbulu’s accusations against Obama Bin Led-on, an Al-Misleadya spokesmen told the Tribune that Mbulu was just a denialist crank, and that even the liberal New York Times had refused to publish an essay Mbulu wrote that criticized Bin Led-on. “Mbulu probably also doubts that the Holocaust happened,” the spokesman said. “He’s just a web-surfing loser, and bitter about it. He doesn’t even own a car. He lives in some shack in some mosquito-infested shithole village in Africa. The Senator owns a historic $1.6 million mansion in South Chicago. He’s already raised over $30 million for his campaign. Obama Bin Led-on is a winner, he demonstrates that every black person can rise to the top of the heap.”

(SPECIAL NOTE: As comments below this article indicate, this text may not be up for long, since we changed the names Marcel used – Obama Bin Lying and Al Killya – for Osama Bin Led-on and Al Misleadya because we felt that Obama is merely misled, not actually aiming to kill people knowing that HIV is wrong, as some others do. He is, moreover, a worthy candidate for the presidency and we would hope that he can be influenced to research the HIV∫AIDS situation more deeply.

The author, however, awoke in a far time zone to find this desecration of his text inappropriate and fought to get his original names back and, when faced with resistance, to withdraw his masterwork entirely. At the time of writing we still hope he will change his mind once he has slept through another Thai night, but if not we will have to erase it from our portion of the ether. – Ed.)

More truth than jest

If anyone detects a slightly bitter tone to this comic turn, it no doubt arises from the fact that the consequences of newcomer Barack Obama’s gullibility are so deadly for the lives and happiness of so many people, especially black people in Africa, and the description is more real than invention..

Interestingly, in a breathtaking coincidence, “You Bet Your Life” has put up a little cartoon today on the same theme, Obama with Bin Laden’s face, concocted expertly by Harvey Bialy, the editor, but with a tactful appeal to Obama from Lee Evans, the Olympic athlete and black who, like us, is kindly disposed towards Barack Obama and hopes he will learn that he has made a mistake in supporting HIV∫AIDS conventional wisdom.

If there is anyone intellectually sharp enough to detect that an unprecedented giant game of Foolya for Funds is going on in HIV∫AIDS, it will be Barack Obama, who clearly has one of the most active minds in politics. We hope that Girodian’s satire and Evan’s remarks get to him somehow.

I disown this. This is not what I wrote, it has been changed in ways I don’t approve of, without my permission. If and when the editor changes it back to the way I wrote it, or removes it entirely, he can remove this comment as well.

I’m finished with writing Aids satires and maybe finished with the whole damn movement, if this is the shabby way I’m treated by this and other unnamed webmasters. I have quite enough stress in my life without the added shock of these “surprises” my publishers keep springing on me.

Twenty-four year old seamstress Bahati Odaba tells what happened next. “I wasn’t so fortunate as Bin Lyin,” she said. “My test came up positive. When I went to my husband to be consoled, he wouldn’t touch me. He got his things and moved out of the house that night.”

“Now none of my friends will come near me, and our children are pariahs at school.”

Chiumbo Zuraaba, too, was impressed by Bin Lyin’s charisma, and got tested. After the brawny construction worker tested positive, he took the medicine that the government gave him for free, thanks to the efforts of the Clinton and Bill Gates Foundations. Within days, he got very sick, within weeks, his muscles had wasted away, and within six months he was dead from kidney failure. “They said he must have had a very powerful strain of the virus in him,” said his son Nthanda. “But I think it was the medicine that killed him.”

Bujune Obasanjo is now what they call an “AIDS orphan.” “My mom got tested after she listened to Obama Bin Lyin,” he said.

Abubakar Malaho, a single man who works as a carpenter, was also persuaded by Obama Bin Lyin to take the test. “Bin Lyin didn’t tell me that would happen,” he grumbled.

Dayo Hatingo and her husband Simba both tested positive after listening to Bin Lyin. The next day, they walked to the river and drowned their children, then themselves. They didn’t want to face the hell that their lives would surely become, being HIV+ lepers.

There are hundreds of stories like these in Kisumu, where Bin Lyin gave his demonstration.

“Most of the stories are the same,” says Mbulu. “People listened to Bin Lyin, and got tested, and when they tested positive, they collapsed into a heap of rubble on the floor, their psyches pulversized into dust, overwhelmed with depression.

“Bin Lyin is assisting in what I think is a controlled demolition of the African population masquerading as ‘humanitarianism’,” Mbulu said.

He continued, “The ones strong enough to survive the initial impact of the test result later committed suicide, or died from the deadly chemotherapy drugs that Bin Lyin says are ‘life-saving.’ Mostly the drugs destroyed their livers, others died when the drugs gave them heart attacks, nerve damage, uncontrollable diarrhea, or caused their skin to come off in sheets. Meanwhile, no controlled scientific study has ever been done that has shown these drugs to prolong life when compared to a group that didn’t take them. Obama been lyin’ about that, too.”

Mbulu was visibly trying to control his anger. “Bin Lyin also failed to mention that none of these tests detect HIV, they only detect antibodies thought to be associated with HIV. Yet Bin Lyin never disclosed any of this information to the poor folks he urged to get tested! Just like Jim Jones, he said ‘Listen to me, I’m your leader. Drink the Kool-Aid, drink the Kool-Aid’!”

In addition, Bin Lyin didn’t tell people that the testing protocols used to stigmatize people as HIV+ outcasts in the Third World are not approved to diagnose HIV in Bin Lyin’s native US, according to Mbulu. Because of this double standard, many people who test positive in Africa and Asia would not be considered positive in the US, or in Australia or France. “This is outrageous,” Mbulu said. “It’s obvious that HIV positivity is politically, not medically, defined. And Bin Lyin never would have taken that test for the TV cameras if he didn’t already know that he tests negative.

“Bin Lyin also didn’t tell us that there are thousands of scientists [link to http://aras.ab.ca/rethinkers.php%5D who say that HIV doesn’t cause AIDS, [link to http://aras.ab.ca/aidsquotes.htm%5D and that the reason we are told otherwise is because medical science and the media are corrupt and in bed with politicians and the drug industry.

“This man Bin Lyin says he’s one of us, but his actions indicate otherwise. Bin Lyin even remarked that he was ‘privileged’ to address the notorious Council.

“It’s too bad that people are conned by these opportunist black people whose color cloaks the reality that they secretly serve the white corporate elite,” said Mbulu. “Bin Lyin, Rice, Winfrey, Powell, Jackson, Thomas, are all just front men for the globalist power brokers. They serve as the “humane, caring” black faces for the public to see on TV, distracting attention from the callous rich white men pulling their strings from behind the curtain. People think that because these sycophants are black, or women, or black women, that the policies they advocate must be ‘liberal’ and ‘compassionate.’ That’s just what their Machiavellian elitist puppetmasters want you to think!”

“If Bin Lyin cares about black folks so much, why was his first act as a US Senator, to refuse to support the Congressional Black Caucus in their challenge to Ohio’s nullification of hundreds of thousands of black voters’ ballots, an outrageous theft that helped Bush steal the election? Then Bin Lyin voted for Bush’s far right wing Supreme Court nominee, voted for a bill that makes it essentially impossible for the little people to sue huge corporations that have harmed or defrauded them, and voted to renew the Patriot Act that takes away Americans’ constitutional rights and turns the country into a virtual police state, gives the government almost unlimited powers to spy on American citizens, gives the president imperial powers to arrest Americans without any evidence and hold them without trial, even strip them of their citizenship, all on the president’s say-so, with no proof and no constitutional process. Do black people really want to swallow Bin Lyin’s Kool-Aid?”

Kenyan investigators are trying to locate Obama Bin Lyin in order to hold him accountable for the many deaths caused by the events of 8/26. He is thought to be hiding in “the Cave,” a luxuriously appointed underground biosphere near Washington DC that the US government has built as a retreat for the power elite in the event of nuclear war that kills all the common people.

But tapes have surfaced that purport to show Obama Bin Lyin addressing his followers in various cities across the US. Investigators are not sure whether this is the same Bin Lyin, or a double.

Wherever Obama Bin Lyin may be, his Al-Killya terrorist organization still functions. One of its New York cells, run by the noted Aids terrorist Dr. John Peemore, is reportedly planning more hijackings of common sense and the scientific method, and consequently more deaths and misery from Hiv/Aids terrorism. Informers in the Al-Killya organization report that more planeloads full of Hiv tests and Aids drugs are being readied for the next attacks which will be targeted at more than 10 South and Central African nations heretofore largely spared by the Aids establishment.

Informed of Mbulu’s accusations against Obama Bin Lyin, an Al-Killya spokesman told the Tribune that Mbulu was just a denialist crank, and that even the liberal New York Times had refused to publish an essay Mbulu wrote that criticized Bin Lyin. Obama Bin Lyin is a winner, he demonstrates that every black person can rise to the top of the heap.”

  3. MacDonald Says:

Looks like the always hyperactive editor of NAR has bin taken with Obama to the extent he couldn’t make himself print that the democratic hopeful’s bin lyin.

  4. marcel Says:

Obama appears out of nowhere a year or two ago, suddenly he’s showered with favorable publicity by the media, becomes a household name in record time. That doesn’t happen unless the Power Elite want it to happen. TS’s naivete reaches new heights.

  5. marcel Says:

Now take this f***r down and end my nightmare, please.

  6. marcel Says:

Okay Anthony and Harvey, you’ve won. You’ve totally crushed my spirit. I give up. HIV causes AIDS! HIV CAUSES AIDS! HIV CAUSES AIDS!!!!

  7. marcel Says:

Take this story down, please. It is a slander against me. You denialists will do anything to ruin a person’s reputation. I know how you operate, i’ve been reading about it at http://www.aidstruth.org

  8. marcel Says:

You people should be locked up for endangering the public.

  9. Truthseeker Says:

Dear me, the satirist has lost his urbanity, a sine qua non of success in this field, we would say.

Obama is not a liar, he is merely taking what he is told and assuming it is true. He is not trying to kill people knowingly by telling them to take the HIV test. He has been duped. All he can be accused of is a little naivete, perhaps, in accepting an absurd and inconsistent paradigm on faith from scientists who these days deal with very large sums of money and have to get funded annually or they die, rather like sharks must continue swimming to breathe.

Marcel reproduces his text to prove we changed it, but the comparison will show that every word but one was left intact except for changing the moniker to something more in tune with reality. Obama is not a knowing liar in this instance, or a knowing killer.

He is however a literate man and a fine speaker, one whose oratory outdoes Mario Cuomo’s, which is saying something. He is also a very intelligent man. What a relief it will be to have someone of his ilk in the Oval Office at long last. He is a 21st century man, with his additional quality of knowing what it is to live in foreign countries and among other than American provincials.

Lee Evans is quite right to be polite in asking him to revisit his mistake. Calling him a knowing liar and killer is just inaccuracy. It is important for satirists to get their words right, just as it is for Senators. Biden got it in the neck for calling Obama ‘clean’. There was a tremendous fuss. Was the remark racist? etc etc.

All Biden meant was “clean cut”.

Anyhow now that Marcel has got his preferred version up, the one that he first presented to Harvey but whose editorial hand was too active, it seems, for his taste, everyone can see who they think is right, take sides, criticise, quarrel, and strut their dissident critical stuff, though without insults, and obscenities, please.

This accords with the basic principle of this blog, which is to break the stranglehold of NIAID and its fellow travelers among scientists and officials on public information about HIV∫AIDS, and restore free speech and comment to an area where censorship of any kind has vexatious, sometimes fatal consequences.

We stand for free speech in science, and in satire. For comedy in general, in fact, as the best guide to truth.

  10. marcel Says:

Your and Lee Evans’s suggestion that Obama will be open to persuasion is so funny that I am ROTFLMAO, as Dave Brader used to say.

A fine speaker? So was Hitler. Well-educated at fine schools? So was Klinton.

Obama is a creation of the power elite. The elite are always creating puppets that they can dress up as populists. All the way back to Jimmy Carter and beyond.

And satire has no obligation to be accurate, it just has to be funny.

Now please take this down. People will not read this far, they will just assume I wrote that crappy word “Taken” and, my reputation ruined, I will never again get those fat satirist paychecks. So TAKE IT DOWN!

  11. marcel Says:

    You denialist pig

  12. MacDonald Says:

Dear me, the satirist has lost his urbanity, a sine qua non of success in this field, we would say.

Ah the words of a connoisseur! Our expert editor host, so rightfully confident in his superior judgment that he sees no need to consult the author before he changes an original text, not only has a fine eye, but also a fine pen for political satire. ‘Bin taken’ what a hilariously ermm… politically correct substitute for ‘bin lyin’; and it drives home such a deep satirical point too.

Like our host I look forward to the day where we have another great communicator in the very White House, who in spite of his tremendous intelligence is always excempt from personal responsibility for his actions by virtue of the soft bigotry of low expectations.

You see all anyone can be accused is a “little innocent naivete”: a negligible flaw as long as the man is only urbane and polite. Hell, come to think of it, I’d like one of them urbane, cleancut, articulate n…… as president, wouldn’t you?

  13. Truthseeker Says:

And satire has no obligation to be accurate, it just has to be funny.

The whole point of satire is that it has a core of truth, surely? Otherwise it falls flat on its face, like an insult without wit, or a joke without double entendre.

MacDonald, we have always been anxious to change Bin Taken to Bin Duped or Bin anything Marcel wanted from the get go but whereas we thought he would come up with the answer in a jiffy he has unexpectedly become too knickertwisted to address the simple solution to our editorial predicament.

Perhaps you can come up with the answer, since you have such a prominent constructive side.

  14. MacDonald Says:

I’ll give you a hint and a kudos – really: your change of ‘Al killya’ to ‘Almisleadya’ was a real improvement. Lost nothing phonetically and semantically better.

  15. marcel Says:

Seriously, I have to go to sleep now. When I return to the web in 20 hours I want to see this article gone. I have that right as an author, I believe.

Either that, or change the byline to “Mostly by Marcel Girodian, but certain of his funny words changed by Truthseeker to PC ones that blunt the satire and lose the phonetic similarity between ‘Laden’ and ‘Lyin’ and ‘Al-Qaeda’ and ‘Al-Killya’, which similarity was the main raison d’ etre of the piece.” and then I want virtual post-it notes applied to the article wherever a change was made, showing my original words.

But I really want you to remove this. So do so now, okay?

  16. MacDonald Says:

You’ve now had 20 seconds to discover that you can’t come up with anything to beat the semantics AND phonetics of ‘Lyin’ for ‘Ladin’. Perhaps you’ve also had time to discover that a man who,a s Marcel says, exploits his only skin deep Third World face, and claims to be in a position to educate people), African or otherwise, by promoting AIDS tests (as you call them, Obama probaly does as well) is in the deepest sense of the word not so much a liar as a lie.

The very fact that you Mr. white male, middle-aged, urbane New Yorker find him wholly inoffensive should alert you to the fact that Obama is a fake.

  17. Truthseeker Says:

    How about Bin Fathead?

OK, we give in, how about going back to Bin Lying? Given Obama’s enthusiasm for HIV∫AIDS is higher than we thought – see Peter Chowka at his site – it is clear that his naivete is becoming dangerous and culpable. He appears to be worse than Oprah in supporting mandatory testing, which presumably means that if you wisely refuse to be tested you will be jailed.

  19. Truthseeker Says:

OK, we are now going back to Bin Lyin and keeping Al Misleadya, or is Al Killya also demanded by the copyright owner, despite MacDonald’s gratifying support for the former?

Of course you realize that the column will have no influence in a positive direction on Obama or his staff once these childishly extreme changes are made?

Perhaps someone ought to open a Thesaurus instead of making do with limited personal vocabularies.

  20. marcel Says:

No, I want you to just WIPE the whole thing.

  21. Truthseeker Says:

OK but it was fun in its NAR version, retitled from Osama Bib Lyin and Al Killya with admittedly low intensity, more decently appropriate, middle class palatable but less misleading names for Obama (Bin Taken) and Al Killya (Al-Misleadya), and now it has become the subject of discussion, and a means of raising an important topic, we will have to see what has to remain in order to justify the comment.

OK we put it back to what it should be, and added a note explaining to readers that Marcel may demand that it be erased. If he does we will adapt the post to explore more seriously what impact Obama might have on the HIV∫AIDS discussion, if not we will do that in a separate post after dealing with Moore, who can now stand alerted as to how feisty and troublesome his critics may be, but who can look forward to their hostility to him being ameliorated when we reveal that he is in fact a leading HIV∫AIDS dissident trying to stay in the closet by protesting too much.

On way or another attention must be drawn to the very severe threat the otherwise intelligent and forward looking Obama may yet prove to the mental health of the nation in his unthinking endorsement of mandatory testing for HIV.

The very fact that you Mr. white male, middle-aged, urbane New Yorker find him wholly inoffensive should alert you to the fact that Obama is a fake. – MacDonald.

We have in common that we have lived in or visited many countries in the world, and recognize provincial thinking when we see it, that is, when people label extraordinarily independent thinkers by their skin color, age or habitat.

  22. MartinDKessler Says:

What politician with any chance of getting elected president (of the USA) much less a governor or a mayor, would publicly endorse a reappraisal of the the HIV/AIDS hypothesis much less criticize a public health measure like testing everyone for HIV? I can see the headline now: “Obama Refuses to take the AIDS Test. Politcal Career Over.” Any such politician would probably get pilloried in the public arena. I believe the judge in the Parenzee trial may have similarly played the scenario of being the first government official in Austrailian to take AIDS rethinkers seriously. Thado Mbeki must be one of the few rare birds to do just that. Remember the Catholic Church has only recently appologized to Galileo.

  23. Truthseeker Says:

I can see the headline now: “Obama Refuses to take the AIDS Test. Politcal Career Over.”… Catholic Church has only just apologized to Galileo

Dear me, Martin, what ruthless realism! But wait a minute. The HIV∫AIDS paradigm will fall over one way or another, the question is only when? Like anything in broad human affairs it is unpredictable and could just as well be tomorrow as ten years from now. We don’t think it is entirely wishful thinking. Even universal misapprehensions don’t last for ever, do they?

Crowds of humans we like to think are like lemmings, and will run over the cliff until there is a loud explosion or something to frighten and divert them into another direction. It is not that hard to imagine circumstances or leaders with mob skills who can provide such explosive force. What HIV∫AIDS needs is its 9/11, some disastrous development or greater fear to force a change in public attention. One we can imagine is that some leader like a past or future President suddenly sees danger in HIV∫AIDS rather than opportunity. Might this not occur if some son or daughter of someone influential tests positive for HIV, and reads all that is now available on the Web?

That kind of thing is the only raison d’etre of this blog, as far we are concerned.

  24. MartinDKessler Says:

I believe the “academic” elite of the HIV/AIDS paradigm have sewn enough complicated abstrusness into the so-called science of its biology that the only way it goes away is gradually – i.e. it will not disappear in a poof (forgive the potential for a pun/double entendre). Like the “mutating” virus, that has served as the explanation for their jobs, the reasons it no longer is deadly or contagious may be “explained” as a mutation in its dangerousness – which will still be around for a while – that way the medical establishment retains its veneer of respect. Remember, evolution is debated more as a religion than as a science – the Republican presidential debate had about 3 of the debaters saying they didn’t “believe” in evolution – that’s like saying they didn’t believe in general relativity or gravity as the explanation of observed phenomena. Science has mutated into a religion by concensus – it’s a bad omen.

  25. Truthseeker Says:

    Harvey alarms his friends

Harvey Bialy, renowned Cuernavaca HIV∫AIDS insurgent, scholar, journalist and author, now retired except for explosive email and unpredictable editing of YBYL and its many valuable contributors, is finally going entirely off the rails, it seems. Harvey has posted on his Bad Manners and Good Gossip section of YBYL the following text.

Since there need to be factual corrections, they are posted here among other comments on this remarkable evidence that despite his strenuous duties the YBYL editor has too much time on his hands. Anyone who can throw light on what the imagined purpose of this posting is might comment below this , since we are baffled, and worry that the much beloved though fearsome YBYL editor has finally lost his marbles:

Narnia Gives the Word “Truthseeker” a Whole New Meaning (by Harvey Bialy)

(Fact: Harvey here habitually misspells NAR as “Narnia”, suggesting in rather complimentary fashion that our science blog is confused in his mind with the biblical fairyland of his favorite author, the shameless Christian apologist C.S.Lewis, whose tales have subtly propagandized so many unfortunate children. We actually like the simile because as Harvey must be aware Lewis’s Narnia was inhabited by humans and by fantasy beings, and that matches the parallel universes of real NAR science and HIV∫AIDS fantasy)

Aviso: This has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and it will be of even minimal interest to only the most avid and rabid of net gossip lovers, mongers and other varieties of people whose entertainment needs are not filled by the television reality shows.

(Fact: This is very true, and raises the unfathomable mystery of why it is posted at all.)

I would not even be typing it except for the fact that that it is inspired by Narnia’s keeper, AL, a person that I have known a very long time, and who is an “AIDS dissident” because of introductions I made for him and things I said to him back in 1987,

(Fact: Harvey was an interesting stranger who made our acquaintance in about 1986 at a press conference we were both covering and mentioned Peter Duesberg to us as a possibly interesting interviewee, though with his lifelong handicap in communicating very well he was incapable of saying why Duesberg was interesting. But we called Duesberg anyway and found out that he was indeed interesting and why. This is why we always try to decode what comes out of Harvey’s feverish fingers flailing his keyboard so fearsomely. You never know what quite rational and intriguing nuggets of gold there might be hidden in his compostitions.

(Fact: Following that incident however we had no significant (ie anything one recalls, and nothing in person) interaction with Harvey Bialy for the two decades following until a few years ago, when he started to ask for help on the phone in publishing his book. Luckily he refused our advice to make it intelligible to a wider audience and succeeded in selling it himself without cheapening it one iota, for which all who read it thank God and the Spirit of scientific precision. But other than that we have seen him in action only socially once in life, a couple of years ago, when he came up to Manhattan to read his book out aloud, when he proved as insistent on being the center of attention as he is in email and on the Web, which on that date was fully justified, of course. There have rarelyif ever been more fiery readings of scientific material, Bialy pounded the lectern like a reborn Lenin, as his words ate up the reputation of grand poo-bahs of oncogene and AIDS science like a thousand PacMen.)

and who over the years has abused my one-time friendship in so many ways that those of you still reading this will now understand why an earlier Bad Manners (20-21.04.07) was written.

(Fact: Never read by us, so can’t vouch for its accuracy, which presumably is no better than his statements here that we abused his friendship, since it is hard to abuse the “friendship” of someone one hardly knows and never talks to except rarely on the phone. As all readers of NAR can attest, there is nothing here about Bialy but compliments, which may be why he feels he cannot link to us for fear of being thought self-serving.)

So what could he have possibly done since then to provoke this? Here is the short version. Today (May 7, 2007) NAR published (or as the “truthseeker” prefers to write) “posted” a piece by YBYL’s “From the Edge” contributor, Marcel Girodian. The exact circumstances through which it came into Narnia’s province are not relevant.

(Fact: The circumstances actually consisted of Harvey so alarming his long suffering satirist contributor with his highhanded and abusive treatment that he came to us with his text, saying that he had experienced so many changes and errors in what he had had published before, perpetrated by the efforts of Harvey to edit it, that he no longer trusted him and when he had insisted on seeing the final copy before it went up, Harvey refused, he said. Harvey denies the accuracy of this account.)

I will say only that when “irreconcilable confusions”arose Saturday over its intended publication on Sunday along with a modified headline and the “Osama Obama”, Marcel declined for us to publish it and even though I warned him what would happen, sent it to Narnia. When I saw the Narnia-mangled version this morning, I did not experience any pleasure at being right in my warning to Monsieur Girodian, and felt in fact very badly for him. So badly, I am writing this now.

(Fact: The version was not mangled or changed in any way except for the afore mentioned name change to avoid accusing Obama of “lying” and “killing” ie to maintain the light touch needed for any successful satire.)

Apart from the obvious mutilations, I also saw the peculiar one near the footer that goes like this:

(Fact: This was not in the Girodian script at all, but in the post. )

Interestingly, in a breathtaking coincidence, “You Bet Your Life” has put up a little cartoon today on the same theme, Obama with Bin Laden’s face, concocted expertly by Harvey Bialy, the editor, but with a tactful appeal to Obama from Lee Evans, the Olympic athlete and black who, like us, is kindly disposed towards Barack Obama.

So I wrote him in lc and CAPS that he was a day late with the date and few dollars short in content, and that “coincidence” was an outright lie,

(Fact: To us this is a good example of Harvey’s lack of genuine humor, especially about himself, since he entirely overlooks the obvious ie that he is being provoked by design.)

and “Olympic and black” were not evidence of extraordinary truthseeking brain power as ways to describe Lee Evans, and that there was neither any need to “belittle” my cartoon, even though he could only guess it was done (expertly or not, and how would he know in any case what degree of Photoshop expertise was required to make the collage) by me, since it is unattributed on the site.

(Fact: Alas, even compliments are wasted when a sense of humor is lacking. Let it be said, we admire Harvey’s prowess with Photoshop, and his success is filling a gap when his long time contributing satirist had left him in the lurch.)

And lastly that it was typical of him to try and make Lee’s opinion his, and to do it in such a way as to make it appear that Lee was agreeing with him rather than have the simple tact to phrase it, “We agree with Mr. Evans” [even though, in point of fact (truth) the idiotic and naïve opinion of Mr. Obama expressed endlessly by A L is NOT shared by Mr. Evans]. I closed by pointing out that that was a lot of mistakes for a truth-seeker of his stature in so short a space.

    (Fact: Silly stuff, quite untrue.)

This is what he wrote me in reply, reproduced exactly:

“dont be dumb I just wrote into the am
havent found out how to change the dates yet
    L. dumped me after getting me into it barely wih much to fix
    said I abused him
I explained he was confusing me with you
    big little big little
    alright big
    sheez
actually the tone was to tease you
    seems it worked
    better descriptors please
    I looked at his interview
but where is the solid biography”

(Fact: Purpose of reproducing this email telegram, one of the few from us written in Harvey’s totally unedited style, just to be friendly, is unknown. Is Harvey Bialy still of sound mind? Earnest enquirers need to know. )

I wrote him back he was very, very stoopid and lazy. As of this typing the text at NAR
remains as above. I know, compared to what he did to Marcel it is trivial, but Marcel was warned, and I am a nasty SOB at times.
    ——–(end)

Odd stuff indeed. Apparently Harvey, as he grinds to a halt at the end of this scholarly filing of YBYL reference material, suddenly realizes that the whole exercise is pointless. As indeed it is. Perhaps he is attempting to lash NAR as the instigator of his embarrassment at losing his contributor, when we had nothing to do with it, it was all his doing. Anyhow, we are very glad that the remarkable Harvey Bialy has had time at last to recognize the existence of NAR, which otherwise mysteriously seems to escape his official notice, and provoke only responses sent indirectly through his minions, who apparently are asked to copy and paste his email comments under their names and not his. Finally Harvey has spoken, though not to much effect that we can see. But as we noted above, you never know what hidden jewels there are hidden in his output, if only he could point you to them.

Faced with this good news the only concern we have is that given the unique Harvey’s nervous constitution and his habit of firing off random fiery emails at people he hardly knows as if they were responsible for his major setbacks in life when all they have done is mistype one word to his twenty, we are wondering if he is so full of surplus energy that he is spinning his wheels too freely and perhaps needs a full time job, or at least to be accepted in some institution, of what nature we leave up to the reader.

  26. MacDonald Says:

(Fact: Harvey here habitually misspells NAR as “Narnia”, suggesting in rather complimentary fashion that our science blog is confused in his mind with the biblical fairyland of his favorite author, the shameless Christian apologist C.S.Lewis, whose tales have subtly propagandized so many unfortunate children. We actually like the simile because as Harvey must be aware Lewis’s Narnia was inhabited by humans and by fantasy beings, and that matches the parallel universes of real NAR science and HIV∫AIDS fantasy)

Contrary to what the blo’ host may at times feel we (there are a few of us in here it sems) strive always to be fair, balanced and unafraid in our commentary. Thus we are not afraid to say that C.S. Lewis’s books in our expert opinion are indeed the worse for being Christian analogies. It is not unthinkable that early childhood, or even adolescent reading of the Narnia tales may answer for the various peculiarities in editing style one encounters here and there as it were.

It is, however, not the ‘Christian’ part that renders CS Lewis’s children’s books insufferable to some, but the ‘analogy’ part. To wit, Lewis’s passion for Christianity was shared by his inkling friend. J.R.R Tolkien, but the latter, who often expressed the most profound distaste for analogy, wrote his own grand tale in a Christian spirit but also the mythical mode.
Analogy narrows down, confines, bind two things to each other in a definite fashion, thereby making them definite, whereas the mythical, or symbolic, conception transcends, unites, opens up endless vistas.

Having said that, I must caution the blo’ host, however: Regardless what he may have ‘bin duped’ into believing when he was an English lad before he became a cow boy, the analogous people of Narnia are no more real or fantastic than the Greek inspired fantasy beings coinhabiting the nutty professor’s wardrobe.

  27. marcel Says:

Webmaster: You have defied the notice i gave you to remove this piece which has been tampered with in violation of my rights as an author. Remove it immediately.

You can keep the long-winded discussion, as you obviously never understood the wisdom of a person (or a movement) not airing their dirty linen in public, but the satire in question must be removed now. I mean the story that appears in the grey box and headlined “Senator Obama accused of Terrorism”, attributed to Marcel Girodian. That must be deleted immediately. The longer it remains on the internet, the more damage is being done to Mr. Girodian’s reputation, and the more liability the webmaster will incur.

  28. marcel Says:

In addition to insisting on the immediate deletion of the story referenced above, you are strongly advised you to wipe the whole thread. It would be better to pretend none of this ever happened.

  29. patrick moore Says:

    TS,
I don’t understand your resistance to Marcel. He is the author and you changed his text without his consent thus making it different from his intent. Either you leave it as it is or you don’t publish it. All your excuses may sound valid but they change nothing to the fact that you have altered it and it is no longer HIS work. Comply and leave it alone. I would hate to see someone re-edit my work not ask me before hand.

  30. Truthseeker Says:

Patrick, our difficulty is that Marcel, who was being treated with all the respect and admiration we feel for his genius, saw fit to wash his dirty laundry (his expression) in public, leaving us no alternative but to stand up for our position in public, which unfortunately requires that the evidence be available to readers of the editing discussion, leaving us rather overtaken by the immense ramifications of the development, which we haven’t had time to think through yet, but which involve a consideration of the following factors, and possibly others which we haven’t realized yet, namely:

    1) Once published, should copy be edited in a way which renders the issue in discussion obscure for lack of evidence as to what people are talking about?

    2) Should a publisher revert to an earlier version which is misleading to readers in nomenclature in the publisher’s view?

    3) Should such reversion be undertaken while the only response to it by the author so far is understandable but still inarticulate hysteria at the highhanded editing of his baby upon birth, though it involved nothing more than a renaming of the target to a more amusing and less unfairly dark moniker?

    4) Should the published version be changed simply as a response to pressure and even threats of lawsuit by the author before the publisher has fully reviewed the many factors involved, preferably with the active participation of the author?

    5) Should the post be changed on account of public repudiation by the author which has been expressly noted by the publisher in a massive two paragraph explanatory addendum to the text making the author’s position crystal clear, and a post by the author of his entire original text in Comments, which shows that no change whatsoever other than the name change has been perpetrated by the allegedly highhanded publisher, who was originally perfectly willing to revert to the original if so ordered by the master satirist when he woke up in his far time zone, if he was incapable of coming up with a better solution to satisfy all parties, perhaps for lack of a Thesaurus, and so apprised him in an email?

    6) Should the version be altered when the only request made upon the author is to come up with alternative nomenclature more in line with the reality of the topic addressed, which is surely not beyond the creativity of the author as master HIV∫AIDS satirist if faced with an objection to the habit he has in the eyes of the publisher of going overboard in the direction of condemning those he satirizes so that the sympathy and hilarity of readers at his otherwise superb performance is curdled?

    7) Should the version be altered or abandoned when it provokes so many relevant thoughts on the very important issue of whether a Presidential candidate is naive or what is much worse, a knowing puppet of the dark forces that the satirist is sure lie behind the whole grand illusion perpetrated by a small coterie of scientists on their confreres and the public at large around the world?

8th) Should the publisher devote his immense but still limited mental faculties to this knotty and complex issue when readers might be better served by a new post on the original research in the medical literature conducted by the staff of NAR which show beyond doubt that the real targets of the master satirist should be the conspiracy of fools and charlatans who see fit to go along with massive mistargeting of miserable medication to innocents worldwide who are merely suffering primarily from malnutrition as the master satirist’s earlier masterpiece we quoted points up?

The publisher, overwhelmed by a sense of responsibility and respect for Marcel as artist and human being in this confused matter, is nonetheless forced to ask for help from the erudite and far seeing members of the virtual assembly here to sort this one out since massive computer problems and the demands of other more vital (to the general public) topics obtrude.

  31. patrick moore Says:

    1) I admitt to not understanding point one

    2) publish the original and then feel free to write about objections to the piece

    3) don’t pretend to know what the author meant with his baby but you are free to critique it seperately and let the author then take position

    4) you shouldn’t have changed it in the first place. Did you ask him before hand? ( I didn’t read the whole thread, maybe you did)

    5) again, shouldn’t have changed the original to start with. No parties are to be satisfied; Marcel probably didn’t care to “satisfy” all parties.

    6) If you want something more in line with your position then you should ponder writing your own satire devoid of the things which you find confusing which you do otherwise so well.

7)It would have provoked more relevant thoughts had you not changed it but added your seperate objections to it; as proof I submit this very thread which is mostly made up of legal threats.

    8) yes, no, I’m confused. Do you rewrite the medical literature as well? no. you critique what is given. do the same here.

revert to the original and write about your very own objections to it and then we might see the discussion move beyond legal copyright babble.

PS disclaimer: it is 6 am I may have not understood all your points precisely as meant. Against my better judgement I now hit “submit comment”

  32. patrick moore Says:

how did point 8 become the “cool dude”?

  33. patrick moore Says:

    i ma tired

  34. Mark Biernbaum Says:

How fascinating that Marcel complains about his article being changed to suit the purposes of a dissident thinker, and that he is provided with text on this issue by none other than Dr. Bialy, who just this week published an email exchange I had with Dr. Brian Foley, even though I expressly told him he was NOT to publish it.

What does this mean? It means that to some, this is all about vindication and revenge, while to others, it is about truth and reconciliation. Vindication and revenge will not be the motivators that will overthrow a paradigm, and when rethinkers start engaging in nasty behaviors, like absconding with or changing the text of another, we can expect that the cause will fail to advance, as the dissidents now act in a way that is undifferentiable from their establishment counterparts.

Sorry about your distress, Marcel. Join the club.

  35. Truthseeker Says:

Patrick, thank you for your comment. The smiley appears when you type 8 followed by a close-bracket. Not sure what the fix is. Hard to follow what you mean unless you put the points you are answering above your reply, but the whole point is that changing Marcel’s name for Obama to Bin Taken from Bin Lyin, and his fantasised group from Al-Killya to Al Misleadya, seemed a good idea because Obama obviously does not know that HIV∫AIDS shows a large gap between the claims and the literature, and so is not a conscious liar nor a knowing killer, and satire does not work if it is based on a huge false premise, and this long established reference site for truth seeking on paradigms cannot endorse by publishing a huge inaccuracy even if satirically presented, unless the author refuses to make the change, and anyway such a glaring misrepresentation is distasteful and politically unwise, it seemed to us. But Marcel was emailed to this effect and asked to object or endorse our decision and it was available for correcting after being up a few hours at night, if he had emailed us to that effect. But he chose out of sheer horror at the public desecration of his masterpiece to post a repudiation on NAR, an entirely natural reaction which however unfortunately made the whole issue a public matter which became difficult to quietly reverse without losing the thing being discussed, and anyway he posted the original version for comparison, so all in all it seemed to necessary to keep it up and change the post accordingly to ensure that it didn’t give the wrong impression, ie the point of the post became that the Girodian text was too overboard but that at the same time it reminded us that people actually will suffer and die due to being misled by political leaders on this topic as they exploit it to win votes. In fact we reverted to the original but it just seemed too inaccurate to support so we went back to our softened but accurate version (none of this involved anything but the two names).

Quite frankly we couldn’t see why Marcel couldn’t come up with a better name himself if he doesn’t like our editing change, but he hasn’t and he won’t and short of that solution we think that the post stands as revised very well, many people agree with our names and admire his artistic accomplishment in this as much as ever, so we are waiting to see if he can get over his distaste for the simple change or whether he will still insist on repudiating the whole thing. If this seems uncooperative we are sorry but we are in the business of referring to the literature and to the record and there is something about erasing material which we dislike. Also, all matters of this kind should be resolved with civil and cooperative discussion since the interests and objectives of both parties are involved. That is the principle of American democracy by which this site lives and operates, involving a stand against censorship as a way of curbing review and misleading the public who deserve to know the truth in matters of serious policy, which to us includes whether or not Senator Obama is knowingly or unknowingly trying to uselessly disrupt people’s lives and even end them.

  36. Michael Says:

Dear TS bin Changin bin Stubborn bin Aggravatin,

I have most always played the role of Mr. tolerant Nice Guy around here, but not this time! You are in the wrong. You are behaving as a major scoundrel. Just who the hell do you think you are in changing Marcels baby’s diapers without his express approval? Get your hands off of that baby! Yes your changes are witty and may be more acceptable to those who wish to vote for Obama, but, It is not your baby nor your diapers! It may be your playpen but it is not your baby.

Do you for some strange reason think you are the supreme publisher of internet media or that your last name starts with a B and ends with a Y? Perhaps you think your last name is Murdoch. Perhaps you think your last name is Moore? Perhaps you have been idolizing all of them a bit too much.

Either way, you have exceedingly strong competition in those arenas of bastardization of peoples works if you are daring to even think such thoughts.

Without a doubt, you are proving on this issue to be just as rotten and mean and ignorant and stubborn as other publishers that we are all familiar with.

For God’s sake, TS, Martel’s piece is a satire, and it is meant to have a punch to it. It was not written with your personal political agenda or personal take on Political Correctness in mind, nor should it be anything other than what Marcel wishes to say, if you wish to print it at all!

Please do put Marcels wonderful piece back in its original form immediately, (but I do hope you will pay absolutely no attention to Marcel if he demands that you are to remove it, because it really is a masterpiece)! I hope as many as possible can read and enjoy it. And Thanks TS, for publishing it!

  37. Truthseeker Says:

But Michael, while we are glad you appreciate the quality of Marcel’s piece you seem to be overlooking why the two name changes (and no others) were made. Obama is not a killer terrorist, he is an unwitting terrorist where the core of the satire is the contrast between his assumption that what he is told is correct and its results. His desire to exploit it in the double cause of the public good (so he thinks) and getting elected President is entirely innocent of any desire to kill people, and to print such a version is to further all kinds of extreme right wing prejudice which presumably Marcel is entirely innocent of. That is why we made the change, not out of any wish to fit in with political correctness, which is as you say the proper subject of satire, not its motivation.

You say we are rotten and mean and ignorant and stubborn but we are standing up for the truth which is the purpose of the blog and presumably of Marcel’s masterly satire, and our editing was only what was required to set the thing on the rails and aim it for the dead heart of gullible electioneering which has caused the otherwise presumably thoughtful Obama to overlook the lethal absurdities inherent in the HIV∫AIDS paradigm which the satire points up.

That is why we agree that even to consider taking it down is not an option unless Marcel finally decides after admitting our points and considering the whole question cooperatively that he cannot have his masterwork published under any other names than Bin Lying and Al Killya, because his genius cannot cooperate with editing in this way.

By the way telling a published writer that an author cannot have his work edited in any way is going to run headlong into all the million reasons why this is standard practice in publishing. We dislike it as much as anyone but the plain fact is that a writer cannot think of everything as he works on a piece, and it is hard for him/her to be his own editor because by nature he/she lacks perspective on what he/she has written until time passes..

  38. Robert Houston Says:

Marcel’s piece was overly partisan and was improved by Truthseekers name changes, which were an exercise of normal editorial responsibility to meet minimum publication standards However, I would suggest the following as alternate substitutes that might be more acceptable to all: Bin Ledon and Al Niaida.

  39. Truthseeker Says:

Houston has done it! This is what we were waiting for. Names that meet MacDonald’s (and our) criteria of making perfect sense and also sounding like the original vowels.

So Houston has done at long last what we expected Marcel to do in a jiffy, which was expertly improve on our admittedly less than perfect susbtitutions. The question now is, should the substitutions be made in the original? Will that give a false impression and represent an abrogation of the truthtelling for which this site lives and dies, or will it be justified as a way of perfecting Marcel’s masterpiece by replacing political extremism with a precise targeting of the now superbly buffed missile at the dark heart of the matter, which is that lives are being lost because of the pride and foolishness of the only too normal human beings involved in running the field of HIV∫AIDS research and its politics?

Perhaps some of the most intelligent readers of this obscure blog will now see why we have kept this post and its comments intact rather than obliterate it in an effect to conceal the very human flaws of the blogger and the master satirist. Perhaps they will see as we do that this tempest in a teapot matches in its tiny outline the vast saga of scientific foolishness which the blog decries. A questionable flag was planted on the dark continent of ignorance by certain parties and despite the illuminating and decisive repudiation of the claim by none other than the finest practitioner of the art of flag planting, in this case in satire rather than in science, the defenders of the flag and all it stands for refused to back down and withdraw, and instead tried strenuously to rationalize the error for lack of a better alternative, and in the hope that their initiative would prove out after all.

Now Houston has provided the correct solution, but will it be subtituted, or will the world or at any rate this blog continue with the old for the simple reason that the publisher wishs to save face and not acknowledge his gross error? All those familiar with the 22 year old precedent formed by HIV∫AIDS will know what to expect, unless this blog and its host are willing to set a higher standard of social ethics and intellectual integrity, rather than simply adopt the same self preserving strategy of what the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t grieve over, and there is no need to admit to the general public a gross error which even the high flying eagles of the watchdog press are unable to see, in this case because they are totally unaware of it.

So for the moment we are going to lie low and not make the change, though by this afternoon we may have changed our minds, since although we believe in avoiding self-criticism at all costs, the sheer artistic excellence of the Houston solution should prevail.

  40. MacDonald Says:

Houston has done it! This is what we were waiting for. Names that meet MacDonald’s (and our) criteria of making perfect sense and also sounding like the original vowels.

Mr Blo’, kindly leave my name out of your embarrasing nonsense. The vowels in ‘Ladin’ and ‘Ledon’ are not even similar to the ears of Fawlty Towers’ Spanish waiter. You’re possibly referring to the consonants o conoisseur of “sheer artistic excellence”.

Why don’t you try this for bedside contemplation:

‘Lyin’ is a name not an attribute or a spelled out accusation… it ain’t even a word in the English language according to dictionary.com. That the pc editor whose conscience normally can bear no misrepresentations has changed it into one by misquoting Marcel as having written ‘lying’ still doesn’t make it so.

‘Terrorist’ on the other hand is a word

The dynamic duo, Mr. Blo’ and Mr. Houston are once again their own biggest satire by fretting over this non-issue while allowing a piece that in its totality accuses a presidential hopeful of being a terrorist.

Obama bin Lyin – not ok.

Obama bin Comitting Acts of Terrorism – super.

Only in the nutty professor’s wardrobe…

  41. Truthseeker Says:

MacDonald, we are losing patience. Refer to the Legally Blind thread for our growing feeling that you are merely a troll. We are not even moved to correct your spelling mistakes any longer. This post is too revealing of the misapplication of your genius to trivia that are leading you into error. You need to fly higher. Much higher. An eagle has no business strutting like a hen on the ground picking at scraps.

Fly, MacD, fly high! Soar! We need to be inspired.

  42. MacDonald Says:

These are the scraps you’re please to present as vital issues Mr. Blog Owner

  43. Truthseeker Says:

Then you must lead us into the heavens, O Eagle!

  44. MacDonald Says:

I think you can guess my nirvanic solution:

Delete the satire, which, as you’ve quite rightly pointed out, is not a satire at all. Return it to its proud father and let him do with his baby what he sees fit (perhaps he’ll give it back to you). Let the whole thread go the same way, back to all its various more or less proud fathers. Then publish the Moore piece and see if it will not produce some winged commentary.

Alternatively, if, as there are beginning signs to suggest, the piece has been disowned, you could adopt the orphan, instruct and nourish it, cure it of all the tragic flaws it might possess in its new guardian’s eyes and post a note to this effect.

  45. MartinDKessler Says:

I expected more of one of the more erudite blogs than what has ended up as bickering children. I like this blog because of the interesting points of view from other informed and famous dissidents. It’s also rewarding and fun to contribute my two cents worth as well. I like debates where both parties can learn something. Marcel protested a little too much and revealed more about himself than about Truthseeker. Marcel’s satire has been published on the web elsewhere with no modifications – modifications that I myself did not find offensive – I can see the positions behind both versions and can appreciate them – Marcel should have more of a sense of humor in being able to laugh at himself as well.

  46. Truthseeker Says:

Marcel’s satire has been published on the web elsewhere with no modifications

He put it up here in Comments above, simply restoring his original names, which is the only significant change we made.

If he put that version up elsewhere, we know not where, so tell us. Anyhow, we are glad to be called reasonable, if that is what you feel, Martin. Certainly it would seem better to laugh at oneself, as well, as we do all the time, helped along by MacDonald.

  47. MartinDKessler Says:

The Marcel satire is also on the Alberta Reappraising Aids website.

  48. Truthseeker Says:

In its original state? John P. Moore must be delighted at that. So much for the reputation of HIV∫AIDS critics for balance and knowing what they are talking about. Still, it frees us to run the superior Houston version without being accused of forcing our editing decision on anybody.

  49. Douglas Bishop Says:

    TS,

    (Part 1)
I have followed the comments regarding the subject satire and in light of the latest comment from McDonald and your recent post, I am compelled to make comment.

I think you should post only Marcel’s original version. It was wrong to have edited it (a matter of free speech). You should have rejected it, outright, if you felt it was “over the top”.

I fail to see it as a problem to you since it has Marcel’s bi-line and you could have made a disclaimer (at the bottom of his story). You may not have that option now. At this point you would need Marcel’s consent. It would be well worth the effort. He contributes a great deal of depth to the discussion.

I feel that Barak Obama has committed dubious acts and does deserve criticism. Among those is certainly his explicit role as a “Serial HIV/AIDS Tester”. I posted a comment to this in Lyn Sweet’s blog (of the Chicago Sun News) back in December. You can read it in my post at Aidsmyth Rethinkers Worldwide forum

  50. Douglas Bishop Says:

    (Part 2 of 2)

If all of the establishment candidates are going to continue their relentless drive to promote the HIV/AIDS paradigm endorsing ARV’s and HIV testing, I will do what I can to dissuade them or look to other candidates. Nor will I consider them if they will continue the entrenchment of US troops in Iraq. Whether they follow the “New World Order” by the power elite or “Priority for a New American Century” (PNAC) by the Neo Cons, both have their own agenda, and yet are in lock step to defy reason and humanity.

Below are a small sample of film clips which can be easily found on YouTube.com by typing in key words on their search bar i.e. New + World + Order and PNAC

    You Tube A

    You Tube B

    You Tube C

  51. kyinaz Says:

I agree with the other readers, here, who have expressed concern over your censorship of Marcel’s work. Such censorship is inexcusable and no amount of rationalization can justify your actions. You could have chosen not to post Marcel’s piece, if you felt it was too critical of Obama, or in the least, you could have presented your editorial changes to Marcel for his approval and/or disapproval. Those were the respectable options.

That said, I appreciate your dedication and hard work with this blog, TS, and though I haven’t been a regularly contributor recently, I continue to read it. I hope that such trivial acts of censorship will not become commonplace, and by trivial, I’m referring to your insistence on defending Obama. As Douglas Bishop points out, Obama is hardly worthy of obsequious acts of admiration. He is a typical bi-partisan “Yes”-man, and that unfortunately will hardly be good enough to rescue our failing empire. If he were indeed a saint, I, like others, would be open to hearing justifications for your nominal “modifications”, but given the political realities involved, such modifications were absolutely unnecessary.

    Kevin

  52. Robert Houston Says:

I have to disagree with “kyinaz” and any other commentators who would turn an editorial dispute about two names into an issue of censorship. Rarely in publishing are writers’ works published without editing. To suggest that any editing is censorship is absurd. How is it censorship when Truthseeker permitted Marcel Girodian to post his original piece, unchanged, in the comments?

As TS pointed out, Marcel was apprised of the proposed changes in advance but failed to reply privately before the piece was posted. Instead, Marcel waited till after it went up and then made a public issue in the comments. Having read both versions, I found Truthseeker’s modified form (with the two name changes) to be much superior, for it respected the truth of the matter: that Sen. Obama has been misled.

Marcel’s original piece was juvenile and extreme in accusing Obama of lyin’ (the colloquial form of the word “lying” – for the benefit of Dane MacDonald), terrorizing, and trying to “kill ya”. This is a form of “swift boat” smear job on a presidential candidate. In advocating HIV testing and ARV drugs for Africa, as well as America, Obama’s views are similar to those of Pres. Bush and Pres. Clinton and the entire American political and medical establishment. (In only one respect are they significantly different: Obama has advocated mandatory HIV testing but Marcel’s critique never even mentioned this.)

Clearly, Truthseeker exercised proper editorial judgment in making the name changes. It is normal for editors to change misleading wording and tone down inflammatory material, in order maintain normal civilized standards and correct any elements of calumny and blatant falsehood, such as Marcel’s heavy-handed “satire” originally displayed. YBYL, where the hypocritical MacDonald has been the managing editor, also required several changes in the piece and would not publish it in the original form. (As I suggested earlier, a closer parody of “bin Laden” – the standard spelling – would have been “bin Ledon” and a better substitute for the Marcel’s “Al-Killya” would be “Al Niaida.”)

TS may have been overly tolerant, however, allowing Marcel to post his original with its smear-word names intact. David Crowe could also be faulted for granting Marcel’s vain wish of propounding his pristine original, which was posted on May 10 at the ARAS website. It gives a sleazy impression of AIDS dissidents as a lunatic fringe who disregard the facts and promote grotesque images of anyone who’s been misled by the AIDS establishment.

  53. MacDonald Says:

It always makes one’s job easier when those who are desperately trying to defend the indefensible start contradicting themselves in the same thread, or even in the same comment, and providing examples by which to measure proper conduct.

    1. Marcel and Harvey Bialy worked on publishing the satire for YBYL. A misunderstanding arose on Marcel’s part concerning the copy he was given to approve prior to publishing Marcel’s objection did not concern the contents but the formatting. He thought the formatting might of the document might be changed in uploading – which was not the case. Although this objection truly was trivial, YBYL, respected the author’s wishes and did not go ahead with publishing.

    2. Whether one is Danish, American, black, Jew or gay it is no less a misrepresentation to append an apostrophe to Marcel’s spelling of the name ‘lyin’ than appending a ‘g’. Now the two dynamic apologists have attempted both in order to force their censorious views on the rest of us.

    3. To exaggerate and impress upon us the perceived sinfulness of the original ‘bin Lyin’,
Mr Houston tries to pretend the text was cured of being ‘juvenile’, ‘heavy handed’ and ‘extreme’ by changing two funny-names. Fortunately the proof is in the pudding: anybody can glance through the piece and see for themselves that one of the only subtle or wittily suggestive features in truly satirical tradition are the names, especially bin Lyin’ for bin Ladin, whereas the rest of the text is made up of plain spelled-out accusations put in fictional characters’ mouths. But even Mr. Houston and Mr. Truthseeker cannot maintain such a contradictory claim for long That is why the already edited piece as a whole is also called ‘overkill’ and ‘bitter’, more truth than satire”. It is also why they cannot answer the question why they think it is less ‘swift boat’ to publish a piece accusing Obama of terrorism than one suggesting he is not truthful.

    4. In an attempt along these lines, which again would make for great satire had it only been intended that way, Mr Houston, who like Mr. Truthseeker has some privileged access to Obama’s conscience and therefore knows he is not lying, offers us as proof of Obama honourable intentions that his views on HIV testing are the same as Clinton’s and Bush’s. . . I’ll allow the reader a minute to wipe his tears and sow together his split sides. . .
The idea (I think) is that all our leaders are naive, mislead dogooders incapable of seeing through even the most glaring hypocrisy, which is somehow supposed to excuse them morally.

    5. Speaking of which, another tell-tale sign of desperation is that Mr. Houston now makes the same mistake as Hitler and the Bush admin. in opening more fronts than necessary. Thus, he feels he has to accuse my dignified self of ‘hypocrisy’ on what grounds are not clear. He also feels David Crowe should be faulted for promoting a “sleazy impression of AIDS dissidents as a lunatic fringe who disregard the facts and promote grotesque images of anyone who’s been misled by the AIDS establishment”. And in a move representing a kind of hypocrisy which will be very familiar to a few here, he even suggests his own party has been to soft in dealing with miscreants:

TS may have been overly tolerant, however, allowing Marcel to post his original with its smear-word names intact.

Really now Mr. Houston, all this over one single name which means ‘deliberately untruthful’ when a ‘g’ or an apostrophe is appended to it?

  54. Truthseeker Says:

The contributions claiming censorship and that we altered the essential character of Marcel’s contribution are so witless and irritating in their inability to take in the points answering them, fully restated by Houston’s exemplary post above, that we are concerned that they are sidetracking the purpose of the blog and what is worse, exposing the trivial level of attention of the tiny portion of the audience interested in making these inappropriate comments, so we hope there will be no more examples of this silliness.

This blog exists to make it clear that there are major paradigms in science that resist review and replacement for spurious reasons to do with power politics, the religious impulse, venality, fear and other human impulses and motivations, and we do not want the picture to be muddied by evidence that the critics themselves or their supporters are unable to grasp elementary clarifications. The reputation of the science critics in HIV∫AIDS has already been lowered by the Perth group in Adelaide who were fatheaded enough to shoot themselves in the foot by appearing to raise the question of the very existence of the Virus and we don’t need another discussion here demonstrating that commentators cannot understand the simple point that Obama has no idea that the HIV∫AIDS lore he has been spoonfed is baseless paradox out of line with its own literature.

That Marcel in his rote iconoclasm and paranoia about the ruling classes, whom he appears to think are geniuses of cunning conspiracy and all hypocritical liars if they profess idealism, thinks he must accuse Obama of being a knowing liar and trying to murder HIV positive people by consciously feeding them into the maw of the dragon is his business except when he is on this site, which will edit him or anybody else trying to promulgate unrealistic and inaccurate stories, whether in an attempt to be satirical or not.

Anyone here who supports him on the spurious basis that he is being “censored” when he is being edited for the very good reasons that this site must maintain the standard of truth and accuracy inherent in its very purpose will be answered with disapproval and requests to cease before they bring into question the sterling reputation of our distinguished contributors and of the only paradigm review site on the Web where truth is the absolute arbiter and mastery of the literature the sine qua non of discussion, even in satire.

I applaud and agree with the Truthseeker’s insight that this discussion, which he previously affected to think so important, and Marcel’s piece, which he for his very own reasons of consistent inconsistency is still loth to delete, are sidetracking the (stated) purpose of his blog.

I also applaud the freethinking host for telling us in no uncertain terms how he really feels about his erstwhile so distinguished contributors, and furthermore for pointing a suitable digit towards the geographical origin of the dissident’s loss of reputation. I take back everything I’ve said about him being hypocritical.

I’m looking forward to the next post, which as I understand it, will be written by someone our host would never feel the need to censor, and thus bring us all back on track.

  56. Nick Naylor Says:

TS: The reputation of the science critics in HIV∫AIDS has already been lowered by the Perth group in Adelaide who were fatheaded enough to shoot themselves in the foot by appearing to raise the question of the very existence of the Virus and we don’t need another discussion here demonstrating that commentators cannot understand the simple point that Obama has no idea that the HIV∫AIDS lore he has been spoonfed is baseless paradox out of line with its own literature.

So let us here untangle the frustration behind this paragraph, where our host is quite rightly trying to redirect the discussion to the more fruitful matters having to do with “the paradigm”, that most enigmatic of words, which, like “HIV” itself, is the source of endless funding for philosophers and science-historians. And while he rightly complains about those who are so “witless and irritating in their inability to take in the points answering them”, I must ask that he consider the same standard applied to him. Not, let’s quickly add, that our noble truthseeking blog host IS “witless” or “irritating”, but such qualities are indeed relative, in the eyes of the beholder, as we all know.

And as one who has accepted the council of TS on the importance of careful and precise statements, it is disappointing, to say the least, to see “Perth”, “fatheaded” and “the very existence of the virus”, in the same sentence. It almost looks like the fine details so-far conveyed to our truthseeking science guardian on matters retroviral have been ignored. Here’s a thought: if the spoonfeeding of Senator Obama is to be counteracted, how about reversing the idea that a single deadly immune destroying virus is the same as a cloned piece of 10 kb DNA equal to identical functional genes that have co-evolved with the genomes of animals since the Cambrian Explosion.

Perhaps MacDonald is justly irritated that you’ve ignored his counter “HIV-existence” argument based on text analysis, which silly me believes would be of interest to journalists, to get this discussion – what’s responsible for the lowering of the reputation of AIDS paradigm critics – beyond simplistic talking points. Let’s get to that skeleton rattling around in the closet: scientific ignorance and illiteracy in general, and how science journalists contribute to this problem, specifically on coverage of retroviruses.

Here’s a fine example of this problem from last night’s Republican debate: Brave Ron Paul is making an argument of sophistication concerning the emotional matter of American foreign policy in the Middle East in front of an audience in South Carolina that obviously doesn’t even know what “blowback” means.

The moderator appears to feign incomprehension of the nuanced points he makes and goes for the cheap shot in that wonderful “lowest-common-denominator” manner we’ve come to know so well: “Are you suggesting that we invited the 911 attack, sir?”

Paul responds, “Have you ever READ the reasons they attacked?

And I wonder, I just wonder, if journalists read anything beyond see Spot run …

We can make a deal: let’s move beyond Marcel – a fine satirist – AND gratuitous insults directed at the Perth Group and maybe, just maybe, Senator Obama won’t think we’re ALL a bunch of lunatics.

  57. Truthseeker Says:

Thank you MacDonald for your deftly felicitous, amusingly ironic, urbanely permissive but still encouragingly supportive words in favor of pulling the engine of NAR out of the swamp into which it headed rather overconfidently and its reversing up the side track and restoration to the rails of the main line and resumed motion full steam ahead towards the final destination of all enlightened blogs in science, which is to substitute truth for error, goodwill for dissension, and constructive dialogue for trivial distraction when lives are at stake and the happiness of millions in question, starting with the current jury selection in Canada in that nation’s first assault on the freedom and sanity of an unfortunate gentleman reckoned to be positive for antibodies to HIV which according to the unsubstantiated science of Robert Gallo and contrary to the entire study literature of the field turns him into a deadly weapon capable of murder by disease, through the witchhunting harassment of mothers and babes who attempt to escape the uselessly deleterious and debilitating drugs which are forced on them by officious ignoramuses, to the urging of the CDC and Obama that we all be put in the same boat as soon as possible by ensuring that every one in the country is tested for HIV antibodies.

Satire may not be a sufficient weapon in the face of this increasingly ominous stage of the unfurling of the consequences of scientific error, so we understand perfectly the sources of Marcel’s bitterness, let us say that. But those of us trying to right this wrong must stand above disregard for truth ourselves, making sure that we plant the flag of accuracy in science on the highest mountain top of debate, beside NAR, and not leave it forgetfully at base camp far below, where it may be trampled on by satirists, however masterful in their outrage.
