the main reason why I started to withdraw my name is Google.
People who try to get some information about me use it. E.g. when I compete for a vacancy the company probably will do so. They would be alarmed by the words “HIV/AIDS”, because they don’t see the context. When I joined the doubters list on http://www.rethinkingaids.com I did not foresee this problem. The paradox and tragedy of the Web is that while it promised to release a Niagara of free speech, and did so at first, now, Alas, the tide has turned, and many have thought better of the frankness with which they first expressed themselves. Instead, they wisely seek to avoid the misunderstanding and antagonism of the foolish and the ignorant by not speaking out, even on important matters of public policy.
